“Everybody Street illuminates the lives and work of New York’s iconic street photographers and the incomparable city that has inspired them for decades. The documentary pays tribute to the spirit of street photography through a cinematic exploration of New York City, and captures the visceral rush, singular perseverance and at times immediate danger customary to these artists. Covering nine decades of street photography, “Everybody Street” explores the careers and influences of many notable photographers––a number of whom have never been documented, featuring: Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Jill Freedman, Bruce Gilden, Joel Meyerowitz, Rebecca Lepkoff, Mary Ellen Mark, Jeff Mermelstein, Clayton Patterson, Ricky Powell, Jamel Shabazz, Martha Cooper, and Boogie, with historians Max Kozloff and Luc Sante."

This is my favourite image taken by Bruce Davidson. This is because it makes me want to ask what is she doing? I wonder if she is homeless or not because shes holding a sleeping. The composition is chaotic because the background, the cars looks like it moving and it can also be very calm because the foreground looks really quite. The depth of field is narrow and the tone is the photo is blurred expect for the girl. The contexts is that her has had an accident and now shes homeless and then she found a kitten on the streets and pick it up and take care of it. The contrast of the image is in black and white so i could tell if the image is bright or dark. The emotion to me is bitter because she homeless and she has no food to eat also the cars that the back is chaotic because its loud and the cars are beeping.

Cropping is a way for street photographers to capture odd details in image. Cropping also draws you in more to an image as cropped images reveal features of the image you may not have noticed if the image hadn't been cropped. An example of a street photographer who used cropping is Vivian Maier. Vivian Maier's images usually revolve around one or a few main elements meaning she must have used the photographic technique of cropping. Street photographers tend to capture some sort of shadow in their images as it usually gives the image more depth and tone. It gives the image depth due to the reflection that bounces of the glass or object. Shadows are also quite surreal as its just a reflection of something rather than something real. Shadows also have a lot of symbolism to them, for example in this photograph there is symbolism in the contrast of the man made building and the natural formed trees.

In these 9 images, i was trying to do cropping for example taking a image of half a person and half a object. The composition of these images are that i try to focus on one part of the body. Some of the images like 2,3,5,6,8 are the lower part of the body. The contrast of these images are in the middle they are not that bright or to dark.

I took 11 images using techniques that photographers use. For example; people laughing, talking and working. It was hard in the beginning but it got a bit easier. We had to take the images independently so we know what a street photographer feel like when they are doing street photography. Also we try to take images of shadows, cropping, over the shoulders, walk on by and look down. We try to take images of the six formers but i was too shy so therefore i didn't take any photos of the six formers.

This is my favourite image because person who was taking the photo was reflected from the glass and the little kids are look away from the camera and the kids are in a triangle and that looks really good. The composition of this is reflection and triangles and the person is reflected really stand out. It reflected the background and also really stand out as well. The person's face couldn't be seen because of the background.

Triangles is a compositional technique used in street photography, mainly for the purposes of adding balance and movement to your image. The photographer does usually end up creating an image with these three points to create a triangle because its a type of layout that drawers people in, making it a successful image.
|
This image is also have triangle inside, the girl in the front and the people at the back makes a triangle and the legs looks look vertical lines. The people faces are blurred out so you can't see the them. The composition of this triangles and shadows. The light from the background makes them looks darker. This image is like Alex Webb's telephone booth image. Wheres there's a man in the front and them one in the middle and one at the back. I think this is also one of my best images.
The Rule Of Third is more than a guideline, its there to help you take a better image. The guide is made by a 3x3 square so it can line up the what you are taking and also it helps you with your composition in lining the image up. In this diagram you can see what the rule of third looks like and in one of my image the girls sitting on the bench is in the centre of the grid and middle one and the bottom middle one.

WWW: I understand how to take a diagonal line images and i can see if there is a diagonal line. In my images is basic me trying to take images of diagonal and i think i have done a good job of it. All of my images are colourful, to me this doesn't make a lot of difference if it was in black and white because it looks just like the same in black and white.
EBI: I think i could of looked careful for the elements of an image. in some of my images i try to get a diagonal line in the images however i dont think i done a very good job. |
Similarities
The similarities of these 2 images is that people walking along and talking, the images are in black and white. In these images the these buildings the opposite ways. The first image is made by Garry Winogrand and the second image is by Henri Cartier-Bresson. In these 2 image i don't think any one notice that the photographer is taking an image of them but the image by Henri, 3 of the boy notice that the he taking an image of them. Something similar is that in these images, is that they both have a lot of diagonals. The content of the first the girls going on shopping and the people sitting on the bench are waiting for a bus or a taxi. I think that the composition is also similar because as you can see that the girls walking along the road is like the man walking across the playground and the boys playing is like the people sitting on the bench and the guy in that wheel chair.
Differences
The difference between the images are the composition is different as how the image is arranged and how its taken, also the the girls are walking forward and the man in the middle is walking to the left. The tone is a huge difference because image 1 is really dark and the second image is bright and this is because the second image the building is white so this make the tone brighter and also the sun is shining into the camera so it makes the first image dark in the first image. The content of second image is that the boys are in a playground and they're playing games and the man is the owner of the playgrounds so he's watching the kids.
I have responded to the challenge of taking a series of 6 images which do not fall into the rule of thirds. I found the challenge quite difficult in the beginning. In my series of 6 images.
In the first image my I tried to arrange it that the image isn't in the rule of third however you can see its arranged in the rule of third because the 2 bins are in the 2 rows on the outside and the bin in the middle . In my second image the squares made by the diagonal lines are not in the rule of thirds because its not alined and have no composition. In my third image the boy is in the middle so the image is arranged in the rule of third also the door is the left is in the left row and the floor is in the bottom column. The fourth image, this image is composed in a different way to my other ones because the bars makes it looks like the person taking the image is trapped some where and this image isn't arranged in a rule of third because its not like

4 Images and Evaluation
I think this image is inspired by shadows and reflection. As you can see the people is walking across the bridge and i have captured the bottom part of the body. The composition of this image is arranged as an image capture from the bottom and i love the way how the image is like composed because you can see the bridge is there and then there is the shadow that stand out the most.

This image is reflected by diagonal lines and it also has triangles in it. I think this image is 1 of my best image because it shows how the image is composed by diagonal lines and triangle. The contrast of this image is in the middle of dark and bright because as you can see that the sky is grey and shining that the same time, it makes basketball board dark.

Final Challenge

In this short film, when Zeno takes capture images, he tries not to make it to obvious and you have to fast so people don't see you taking an image off them. When he captures images he don't offered look into the camera so the just takes the images. Also when he took the image of the pigeons he had to really fast so he don't scare them away. When he taking an image he usually put the camera in he right hand he would just raise he arm and capture it.
