Edge
Starting Point:
I choose 'Edges' because i found this task interesting and it looks like a fun project. I decided to research on Laura Letinsky and Jed Devine, Jan Goover and one of my chosen artist so it can give me more ideas of taking images of edges.

Photo Shot no.1
Evaluation
WWW: This is the first photo shoot which I have taken around the school, I wanted to look at the theme of edges and just took as many images that I saw around the buildings and the school grounds. I used the camera on my phone because I wanted to use some of the effects which are available on this phone. I used the app 'vignette' as it adds a dark edge to the photographs, I think that this adds something to the image, it makes the images framed in a more natural way.
EBI: Whilst it was a really useful experience taking images around the school I think that I need to focus on a particular item and theme, I didnt really think too much about what I wanted to achieve and I think that it would be better if I had a more focused idea, otherwise I can continue to take images of the same thing, or within the same place.

ION ZUPCU
Ion Zupcu is a fine art photographer who was born in Romania in 1960. He has recently shown photographs of his own minimalist still lifes in various museums and galleries throughout the United States. He initially studied photography in Romania in 1982, but this study was interrupted when he emigrated to the United States. In order to support his family who remained in Romania, he drove a taxi cab in New York City. After a chance meeting while driving this taxi, he was able to resume his practice when offered access to a darkroom.
This is my first experiment of edges using paper. I feel like i have done well because i successful made edges using paper however i felt that the images doesn't really look like the Ion Zupucs work so i started to use iPhoto so i could edit them after editing them i felt it does look like Ion Zupuc's work. When i was editing the images i decided to make it black and white and close up so it looks more like Ion Zupuc's work.
Final Piece Evaluation
This is my final piece and my favourite piece out of my experiments. This is because it has really interesting composition and it makes me ask a lot of question about it, for example; why is it placed like this and does it have a meaning to it and etc. I love the way that is different to my other images because it has a really beautiful tone and how it is placed in the image. The image is focused on the body and the edges on its body and on the background its blurred. I set the contrast really high because i want it to have a tone and where it focus.

Laura Letinsky
Laura L. Letinsky is a Canadian contemporary photographer, best known for her still lifes.
Much of Letinsky's work allude to human presence, without including any actual figures. For example, in the Morning and Melancholia (1997-2001), and the I Did Not Remember I Had Forgotten (2002-2004) series, Letinsky seems to document the aftermath of a sumptuous gathering or dinner party. Faded flower petals intermingle with empty glasses and crumbs of food on partially cleared tables, often covered with a white linen that bears the mark of spilled wine. |

Outside of School experiment
Photo Shoot no.2
Evaluation
This set of 24 images that i have taken, is inspired by edges around the school. The subjects of this images are always are about edges and the images are coloured. If it was in black and white i think it will make some of the images different. The composition of the images are calm and some chaotic because the background has things going on behind them.
2nd Final Piece
Evaluation:
This is my 2nd final piece and one of my favourite piece of my website. This is because it have a lot contrast. i think the background the is chaotic because the is a lot of things going on in the background. How the way the origami is laid out really makes the audience ask question like why is it laid out like this?, was it original in black and white? and what is this? The tone of this image is normal because its not dark and not too bright. |
3rd Final Piece
Evaluation:
This is my 3rd final piece, also 1 of my favourite piece of work because the way how its laid out. The contrast of the image is really good because you can see all the details. It also make the audience ask question like why is it black and white? and what is this? The tone of this image is normal also because its not too bright and too dark.

This is what i want for my display strategy because i like the way its structure and how its laid out.
Final Evaluation
For this project I decided to pick edges because i think edges is the easiest out of all the others. At start i started off by taking photos of normal edges at school and I believed it went pretty well and I evaluated and I said what went well and even better if. After that I researched on Ion Zupcu, he does work on paper and that inspired me to do work on origami because I think it look like Ion Zupucs work. For one of my Final pieces I did this:
For my evaluation I said: "This is my final piece and my favourite piece out of my experiments. This is because it has really interesting composition and it makes me ask a lot of question about it, for example; why is it placed like this and does it have a meaning to it and etc. I love the way that is different to my other images because it has a really beautiful tone and how it is placed in the image. I think this good because I could of used images from my first photo first so it would look better. After that I did research on Laura Letinsky, however I didn't find her interesting and left it at that. For our homework over the holidays we have to take 30 images of our chosen project. To be honest I don't think the images look too good because it looks really boring and its just the thing in my room and outside my window. After that I went out to take some more images and I believe it went okay because it wasn't good and wasn't bad. For my second and third final piece I used the images from my second photo shoot. This is what it looks like when its finished:
This is what I want for my final piece and these 2 are my favourite pieces. For evaluation I wrote "This is my 2nd final piece and one of my favourite piece of my website. How the way the origami is laid out really makes the audience ask question like why is it laid out like this?, was it original in black and white? and what is this? "This is my 3rd final piece, also 1 of my favourite piece of work because the way how its laid out. The contrast of the image is really good because you can see all the details. It also make the audience ask question like why is it black and white? and what is this? The tone of this image is normal also because its not too bright and too dark." Overall I am pleased for my final pieces. This is because of what i have learnt and I have also how to experiment and evaluate better.
